Something has been said at the top of the staircase. I stay speechless. The abyss is the hollow that can remain open between the failure of nature and the delay of the supplement.

The staircase wit/ το πνεύμα της σκάλας/ l’esprit d’escalier is a term used for the predicament of thinking of the perfect reply too late. It means that I often think of what I could have said or said more right after leaving a conversation. This name for the phenomenon comes from philosopher Denis Diderot's " Le Paradoxe du comédien " , " Paradox of the actor ".
